Portillo Ski Resort

This resort is 164 kilometres from Santiago via the Los Libertadores highway and the International route connecting Santiago with Mendoza, Argentina. The resort is located between altitudes of 2,590 and 3,330 metres above sea level.
It is one of the best known ski resorts in South America and the only one which has hosted a World Skiing Championship.
The facilities include equipment hire, ski school, restaurants, etc.
Because of the high altitude of the resort you must check weather conditions before you go as these can be unpredictable.
It is set among the high peaks of the Andes, and you look across the valley to a little lake, the Laguna del Inca.
Like other ski resorts, Portillo brought forward the opening of the season to 14th June to take advantage of the good conditions.
