This area is situated 124 km east of Diego de Almagro and 35 km from Potrerillos travelling along ruta c-173. It is located between the Domeyko and Claudio Gay mountain ranges at an altitude of 3 346 metres.
It consists of vast expanses of salt plains set in a depression between two mountains, where turquoise blue coloured lagoons form along its inner borders.
Fauna such as pink flamingos and wild ducks inhabit the plains. The area is characteristically surrounded by hills which are full of marine fossils, particularly the Doña Inés, Twins and White Hills.
The sector is good for excursions, photography, flora and fauna observation and adventure tourism.
