Quebrada de Camarones y de Chiza

The quebrada is located in the north of Chile, a few kms south of Arica. It is a long, deep ravine, more than 850 meters wide, with near vertical walls. There is an impressive descent of 17 km to where you reach the dry bottom.
At km 57 you will come to the Puente de Chiza, where you can see the Chiza geoglyphs, cave paintings done by pre-Columbian peoples.
Continuing into the interior, at km 77 you will see the Camarones and Chiza gorges, where you will find restaurants and other services.
There are some municipalities and farms in the area. Because of the saltiness of the soil, the farmers here grow maize, onions and garlic, etc.
